Cubs nearing deal with Rudy Jaramillo

SI.com's Jon Heyman is reporting that the Cubs and hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo are closing in on an agreement.

Well that didn't take long.

After turning down the Rangers' one year deal, Jaramillo is expected to join Dave Duncan and Mike Maddux as MLB's highest paid coaches. SI.com has learned that the multiyear deal is in the range of 800,000 dollars annually.

Jaramillo worked closely with Alfonso Soriano when he was with the Rangers, and the Cubs hope the reunion may spark Soriano in 2010. Soriano hit .274 with 64 home runs in two seasons with the Rangers.
