Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker is reporting that the Dodgers could enter the mix for impending free agent Akinori Iwamura this offseason. The Dodgers will let Orlando Hudson walk, creating a hole at second unless they want to give Ronnie Belliard the full time job. While Belliard put up good numbers this, history shows that he is a much more effective role player.
Iwamura hit .290 in 69 games this season (67-for-231) and is a career .281 hitter. The Cubs, Tigers, or Nationals could pursue Iwamura this offseason, but his price is not expected to be too steep.
