Mariners, Brewers to pursue Jarrod Washburn?

The Mariners and Brewers are expected to be in the mix for free agent starter Jarrod Washburn, SI.com's Jon Heyman is reporting. The Mariners made a great move by sending Washburn, who had a 2.84 ERA at the time of the trade, to Detroit for prospects Luke French and Maurico Robles.

Washburn struggled mightily in Detroit, in large part due to nagging knee injuries that bothered him down the stretch

However, Washburn owns a 4.10 ERA in 12 major league seasons, all of which have been in the American League. How would Washburn fair in the inferior National League?

In over 200 innings pitched against NL teams, Washburn is 11-6 with a 4.07 ERA, not too much of a difference between his career line. Still, Washburn would have a positive impact on the thin Brewers rotation.
