Padres fire Kevin Towers

The Padres announced Friday that they will fire longtime general manager Kevin Towers, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting. Towers had the longest active tenure of any general manager in the league, and it is sad to see him go.

The Padres are also expected to reassign several other executives, which could lead to a change up in the coaching staff.

Towers reached the postseason four times, and earned the respect of nearly everyone in the organization. Padres executive VP Paul DePodesta could replace Towers as the Padres GM.
