The Astros announced that they will decline relief pitcher Doug Brocail's option, buying him out for 250,000 dollars. Brocail, 42, made three trips to the disabled list en route to a subpar season where he went 1-0 with a 4.58 ERA.
Brocail owns a career 4.00 ERA over the course of 15 seasons. Brocail resurfaced with the Rangers in 2004 after missing the previous four seasons due to arm troubles.
Brocail pitched well down the stretch, and likely won't have trouble finding a job next season.
