After days speculation that Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez's job wasn't safe, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Gonzalez will be the Marlins manager in 2010.
An ESPN report came out over the weekend that the Marlins were talking to Bobby Valentine, but sources say Gonzalez's job was never in jeopardy. Valentine is a possibility for the Indians, Nationals, and Astros, but he may work as an analyst for a year before he wants to manage again, possibly for the Braves in 2011, as Rosenthal suggests.
Gonzalez has done a great job for the Marlins, gaining the respect of his young clubhouse and getting more out of players dumped by rival teams. Winning 87 games this season is very impressive, sixth best in the National League.
