The Denver Post is reporting that the Rockies are discussing an extension with closer Huston Street. Street showed excellent command this season, posting a 3.06 ERA in 64 appearances.
Street is looking at a pretty nice contract if he signs this offseason. The 26-year old put up 35 saves in his first season with the NL Wild Card Rockies, and owns a career 2.91 ERA
So what kind of deal should Street receive?
Closers hardly receive deals beyond four seasons, so it will likely be in the range of three years and seven or eight million dollars annually. If Street performs well in the postseason, that number would certainly increase.
