Hideki Matsui agrees to deal with Angels

Free agent DH/outfielder Hideki Matsui has agreed to a one year deal worth 6.5 million dollars to be the Angels' primary DH.

Matsui hit .274 last season with 28 home runs, and that kind of production in the DH spot should really benefit them, who are relying on Kendry Morales, Bobby Abreu, Torii Hunter, and now Matsui to carry the team in production. Prospect Brandon Wood is expected to finally get a chance to play everyday, and he has the potential to hit at least 20 home runs.

The Angels rotation did take a little bit of a hit when Lackey left for Boston, but they still have four very capable starters. They have had contact with Jason Bay, but could look to adding a veteran to the back-end of the rotation.

Guys like Ben Sheets, Joel Piniero, former Angel Jarrod Washburn, and young Cuban Aroldis Chapman are all still available.
