White Sox acquire Juan Pierre

TIm Brown of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the White Sox have acquired speedy outfielder Juan Pierre from the Dodgers in exchange for two players to be named later.

The Dodgers will pick up about half of the two years, 18.5 million dollars remaining on his contract.

Pierre will be the teams center fielder and leadoff hitter, giving them a proven top of the order bat who can get on base and generate opportunities to score runs.

The White Sox were talking with Scott Podsednik, but this move means he will likely land elsewhere. The Cubs and Royals are his best options at this point.
