Athletics to sign Justin Duchscherer

The Athletics have agreed in principle to a one-year contract with free agent pitcher Justin Duchscherer, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

The deal is believed to be worth around 5.5 million dollars, including incentives.

Duchscherer missed the entire 2009 season battling clinical depression, but all signs point to him rebounding. The 32-year old right-hander had an impressive 2008 campaign, going 10-8 in 22 appearances with a 2.54 ERS and a 1.00 WHIP.

The Yankees and Red Sox had varying degrees of interest in Duchscherer, but he will settle for a one year deal in an attempt to regain some value.
