The Giants are making a run at Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla, MLB.com is reporting. Uggla is coming off his third straight thirty homer season, but has lacked when it comes to average posting a .243 batting average, the lowest of his career.
However, Uggla did improve his patience at the plate, walking a career high 92 times and striking out 21 fewer times than in 2008.
The Giants already have Freddy Sanchez at second, but he could be moved to third to make room for Uggla, which would move Pablo Sandoval to first base.
The Marlins are expected to have a high asking price for Uggla, but the Giants could offer a starting pitcher like Jonathan Sanchez, or a package of minor leaguers.
