Rockies, Miguel Olivo close in on deal

Tracy Ringolsby of FOX SPORTS is reporting that the Rockies and free agent catcher Miguel Olivo are nearing an agreement on a one year deal.

Olivo emerged as the favorite for the Rockies after talks with Yorvit Torrealba reached impasse. Olivo won't be the teams primary catcher, as they have already committed to Chris Iannetta in the everyday role. However, Olivo led the Royals with 23 home runs and has the potential to be a home run threat in the hitter friendly Coors Field.

Torrealba won't have too many options if Olivo lands in Colorado and Bengie Molina in New York. Perhaps the Giants or Mariners could be an option, but only if he lowers his asking price from the two year offer worth 6 million dollars that he is lookin for.
