Yankees GM Brian Cashman Prefers To Improve Team From Within

Ken Davidoff of Newsday, reports that Yankees GM Brian Cashman prefers to improve his team from within, rather than taking a dive into the trade market.

"We're going to continue to try to go within first, see how it plays out," Cashman said. "Hopefully, if that works out, then we can hold on to chips."

The Yankees most likely trade chip would include catcher Jesus Montero, who Baseball America just recently named its third best prospect in baseball.  Additionally, teams would probably ask the Yankees for center fielder Austin Jackson, and right-handed pitcher Zack McAllister.

The Yankees have been rumored to be interested in several players, most notably the Blue Jays Roy Halladay. However, all indication is that the Blue Jays haven't returned any phone calls from the Yankees on Halladay.
