White Sox Activate Carlos Quentin

The White Sox have activated OF Carlos Quentin and optioned OF Brian Anderson to Class AAA Charlotte. Quentin had been out since late May with plantar fasciitis. Quentin's numbers in April (.253/.374/.587) were similar to his 2008 numbers (.288/.394/.571), but his numbers took a tumble in May while he played through pain. Quentin hit .378/.467/.541 for Charlotte, so there's reason for White Sox fans to hope he's back to normal. The Chicago Tribune reports that Quentin could rest his foot occasionally by subbing for Jim Thome as DH against lefties.

Anderson, 27, had posted a .641 OPS in 185 at bats for the Sox, so even if Quentin isn't fully healthy, he should provide a nice offensive bump for a lineup that's already been scoring plenty of runs. The White Sox are currently 1.5 games behind the Tigers in the AL Central.
