Manny Corpas Out Until At Least September, Jhoulys Chacin Called Up

Rockies reliever Manny Corpas is out until at least September according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. Corpas, 1-3 with a 5.88 ERA so far this year, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips in his throwing elbow. Corpas first felt the pain after his outing against the D-Backs:

"After the game, I was in the house trying to eat something, and it was big [swollen]".

After getting it checked out he discovered that he needed surgery, which will be performed by Rockies medical director Dr. Thomas J. Noonan.

In his place the Rockies called up their top pitching prospect, right hander Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin was 8-6 with a 3.14 ERA in 103.1 innings at Double-A Tulsa.
