White Sox Acquire Rios off Waivers

The Chicago White Sox have made another bold move in their push for the playoffs by acquiring OF Alex Rios off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays, ESPN.com is reporting. Rios, who signed a 7 year contract worth nearly 70 million dollars in 2008, was hitting .264 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI's thus far this season. The Blue Jays received nothing in exchange for Rios aside from the obvious financial flexibility. Rios will battle for playing time this season and provides some leverage for the White Sox should they decide to let Jermaine Dye leave as a free agent after this season.
