Rangers Release Vicente Padilla

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com the Rangers have released right-hander Vicente Padilla.  Padilla is expected to clear unconditional release waivers on Wednesday and will then be free to sign with any team. His new team will only have to pay him the prorated minimum $400,000 salary. The Rangers are on the hook for the rest of his $12 million salary this year and the $1.75 million buyout of his 2010 option.

Morosi suggests the Dodgers as a possible landing spot. The Dodgers, already without Jason Schmidt, may be without Hiroki Kuroda for an extended period of time. Adding a veteran like Padilla for a reduced price would be more beneficial to your team than a Charlie Haeger or Eric Stults.
