The Padres are very interested in bringing back veteran catcher Henry Blanco for the 2010 season.
"Henry has done a nice job, particularly as an example and mentor for our young Latin American players," Padres General Manager Kevin Towers said last night.
This could be the start of something long term for Henry Blanco and the Padres. Padres manager Bud Black believes he may have a future as a manager or coach.
"Henry's everything as advertised and then some," Black said yesterday. "He's done a great job with the other catchers and young pitchers as well as the Latin players.
Blanco, who is hitting .236 with 5 home runs, has also thrown out 12-of-34 runners who have tested his arm (35.3 %).
