What was Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder thinking as he stormed the Dodgers clubhouse after the game Tuesday night? He totally lost his cool after being hit by a pitch thrown by reliever Guillermo Mota. Several of his teammates followed him to try and diffuse the situation but he ultimately had to be restrained by security guards to prevent him from entering. What's up with that? Was he going to "beat up" Mota for hitting him with a pitch?
You gotta love a player who plays with heart but, come on. What would have happened had he been allowed to enter the clubhouse? Did he give that a thought? After Brewers reliever Chris Smith hit Manny Ramirez with a pitch in the seventh inning, being the victim of retaliation was on Fielder's mind.
"He was trying to throw a cutter and it just missed," Fielder said sarcastically of Mota's pitch that left a large welt and led to the reliever's ejection.
Said Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, he preferred "stuff to be taken care of on the field," but he liked the Dodgers' chances had Fielder entered the clubhouse.
