Mets claim Jack Egbert off waivers

The Mets have claimed minor league pitcher off waivers from the Chicago White Sox, according to MetsBlog.com. Egbert, a former top prospect of the White Sox, posted a 5.05 ERA in 30 games this season in Triple-A Charlotte. Egbert caught the Sox's attention early in his career, but hasn't been able to adjust in Triple-A since his fist call up in 2008. Prior to the 2008 season, Egbert was 35-24 with a 2.62 ERA in 104 appearances.

The Mets may try to salvage some of Egbert's potential, maybe see if he is tipping his pitches or try to develop a more effective out pitch. In the meantime, he is Triple-A bound.
