Contrary to a USA Today report that the Diamondbacks will shop Stephen Drew, the Arizona Republic is citing sources that it is very unlikely he will be moved. Drew, 27, is having a pretty disappointing season after hitting .291 with 21 home runs in 2008. Drew's average has dropped by more than 30 points, and is hitting just .249 since the All-Star break.
Drew is expected to draw interest on the open market, but his value has taken a hit this season. As Nick Piecoro wrote in his article, the Diamondbacks would be smart to hold onto Drew, hoping that he can rebuild his trade value in 2010.
There really is no rush to move Drew, considering there is no other option at shortstop if he is moved.
