Rangers sign Khalil Greene

MLB.com is reporting that the Rangers and Khalil Greene have agreed to a one year deal worth 750,000 dollars. Greene struggled in 77 games for the Cardinals last season, hitting .200 with just 6 home runs.

Greene signed closed to the MLB-minimum, which makes me think he probably could have gotten a similar deal elsewhere, guaranteed or not. Signing with the Rangers is a smart move if you are looking to win in 2010, but with young up-and-comer Elvis Andrus at shortstop, it is hard to see him getting any legitimate playing time.

Greene could potentially see time at second, third, and shortstop if he finds his form at the plate. However, he probably won't log more the 200 at-bats, meaning he won't have much of a fantasy impact.
