Carlos Beltran has knee surgery, out 12 weeks

Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran had surgery on his right knee and will be out for the next 12 weeks, meaning he should be ready to go by mid-April or early May.

The Associated Press reported last night that the Mets may be able to file a suit against Beltran for having the operation without the consent of the team but his agent, Scott Boras, told the AP that the operation was necessary for Beltran to work, and his contract states that he only needs permission to have elective surgeries, not necessary ones.

Seems complicated, and I doubt anything will come of it. This likely means that outfielder Angel Pagan will be the teams starting center fielder for the first month of the season.
