The Angels, Dodgers, and Mets have all been linked to free agent pitcher Joel Pineiro, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman. Pineiro is reportedly being offered two year deals worth 15-18 million dollars, but sources say he is looking for at least a three year deal.
Pineiro put up 15 wins for the Cardinals last season, and put up a 3.49 ERA. However, Pineiro last put up double-digit wins in 2003 with the Mariners, and has a career 4.39 ERA.
The Angels would be smart to avoid Pineiro, because they have the rotation depth where making the expenditure on someone as inconsistent as him. Making a play for free agent Ben Sheets, who is set to throw to teams on Tuesday.
