Jon Paul Morosi is reporting that the Cubs are in talks with free agent right-hander Kiko Calero. Calero is coming off an excellent year after posting a 1.95 ERA in 60 innings for the Marlins.
Calero spent much of 2008 in the Texas Rangers organization, but has always been a pretty strong pitcher, posting a career 3.24 ERA in seven professional seasons. Calero would join John Grabow and Angel Guzman in the late inning roles, setting up for closer Carlos Marmol.
