The Cubs and free agent outfielder Xavier Nady have agreed to a one year deal worth 3.3 million dollars plus incentives. Nady, who missed nearly all of the past two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery, will serve as a fourth outfielder, mainly backing up Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome.
Nady, 31, is a career .280 hitter who owns a .308 career average versus lefties. Manager Lou Piniella will be happy to have him on his bench.
