According to Fox Sports' baseball insider Ken Rosenthal, the St. Louis Cardinals and pitcher Jake Westbrook are working on a contract extension.
Westbrook, who was acquired by the Cardinals on the July 31st trade deadline posted a 4-4 record and a 3.48 ERA over 12 starts with the Cardinals. Westbrook was traded to the Cardinals in the three team trade that sent Ryan Ludwick to San Diego.
The Cardinals are looking to keep their already strong rotation in tact with Cy Young candidates Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter and stand-out rookie Jamie Garcia already in the rotation.
