The Rockies have interest in Rockies catcher/first baseman Victor Martinez, according to the Denver Post. Martinez hit .302 with 20 home runs and a .351 on-base percentage in a contract season. Martinez owns a career .300 average, and has averaged 21 home runs in seasons where he has compiled at least 450 at-bats.

Martinez and the Red Sox have not seen eye to eye thus far in negotiations, with the Red Sox offering a two-year deal and Martinez seeking at least a four-year deal.

Industry sources expect Martinez, who has the ability to DH, catch, or play first base, will draw considerable interest on the open market. The Tigers, Braves, Rockies, Rays, Nationals, and Giants, among others are all expected to show interest in Victor Martinez.
