The Mets interviewed former Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes for the second time this week, according to the New York Mets. Byrnes met with the Mets top brass, but both sides refused comment on how the interview went as the process is still underway.
Byrnes brought in a solid core of talent while with the Diamondbacks, making an NLCS appearance in 2007. He did stockpile a team full of strikeout prone players but the talent is there on the mound and at the plate for the future.
The Mets are also looking into former Athletics GM and Padres executive Sandy Alderson, who has also interviewed twice.
