Pirates Interview Rangers' Hurdle For Managerial Position

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Pittsburgh Pirates interviewed former Colorado Rockies manager and current Rangers hitting coach Clint Hurdle for the recent managerial opening on Thursday.

Hurdle, managed the Rockies from 2002-2009 before being fired mid-season and replaced by the club's current skipper Jim Tracy. Hurdle joined the Rangers this season as the team's hitting coach and was able to produce one of the best offenses in the American League.

Besides Hurdle, the Pirates have interviewed eight other candidates which include Atlanta Braves hitting coach Carlos Tosca. However, Hurdle and minor league staff member Jeff Banister are the only names under consideration.

The Pirates and the New York Mets are the only teams without a manager currently.
