The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have signed Scott Downs to a three year $15 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal.

The Red Sox were in on Downs from the start, with the Yankees possibly interested, but not really showing it. The Angels could use Downs as a closer, but that is yet to be known. If not, he can be a great set-up man for them. The Angels earlier signed lefty Hisanori Takahashi this offseason.

This could be a form of payback for the Angels, who wanted Carl Crawford, who signed with the Red Sox. Downs was widely regarded as the best lefty reliever on the market.
