The Dodgers are closing in on free agent outfielder Reed Johnson, according to ESPN.com. Johnson was a very valuable forth outfielder for the Cubs, combining superb defense with a fairly decent average.
Johnson is coming off a injury-shortened season in 2009, but hit .303 with the Cubs in 2008 with a .358 on-base percentage in 109 games.
The deal is believed to be pending a physical with an announcement sometime this week.
