Thursday Midday Quick Hits

  • Carlos Delgado is telling reporters that if he doesn't receive an adequate offer this offseason he will retire. Delgado has drawn interest from the Mets and Orioles this offseason, but it is unclear whether or not they still have interest.
  • The Angels scouted Cuban prospect Angel Hechevarria. The 19-year old shortstop could receive a deal similar to Red Sox prospect Jose Iglesias, also from Cuba.
  •  First baseman Mike Jacobs will have the opportunity to make the Mets in spring training. He will make 900,000 dollars if he makes the team.
  • Jermaine Dye is looking for work and is willing to play first base. He had a chance to sign with the Cubs, and now his options are limited.
  •  The Nationals offered pitcher Chien-Ming Wang a base salary of 2 million dollars. The Dodgers are reportedly out for his services.
  • The Royals will give Kyle Farnsworth a chance to make the starting rotation. It is probably a long shot, considering he hasn't made a start since 2000.
  • The Mets are on the verge of signing Japanese pitcher Hisanori Takahashi.
