Ryan Theriot loses arbitration case

MLB.com is reporting that the shortstop Ryan Theriot lost his arbitration hearing meaning the Cubs who will pay him 2.6 million dollars. Theriot requested 3.4 million dollars, but under the circumstances, a 2.6 million dollar salary is a more realistic contract.

Theriot hit .284 last season with a .343 on-base percentage and is a career .288 hitter. The bottom line for the Cubs is that Theriot is already 30 and not a long-term option for the Cubs.
