The Yankees have designated pitcher Edwar Ramirez for assignment, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for newly signed pitcher Chan Ho Park.
Ramirez had a pretty solid 2008 season, posting a 3.90 ERA in 55 games. He followed that up with an atrocious 2009, posting a 5.73 ERA in just 20 appearances.
It is possible an NL club will take a chance on Ramirez and claim him. Ramirez has an above average circle changeup that is incredibly effective against left-handed hitters.
It would probably cost a team a player to be named later, otherwise he will return to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre.
