Mets talking with Joe Beimel, others interested?

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Mets have had discussions with free agent reliever Joe Beimel. The Mets, who are looking for a lefty complement in the bullpen to Pedro Feliciano, have been linked to Beimel for most of the offseason but could never come to terms.

Beimel went 1-6 with 3.58 ERA in 71 games for the Nationals and Rockies last season. He owns a career 4.23 ERA since 2001.

The Denver Post is reporting that the Rockies also have interest in Beimel, who is nearing full strength. One source confirmed that the Cubs have some interest in Beimel, but not at a major league deal.

The Cubs have interest in bringing in a reliever, especially with Angel Guzman opting for surgery. They also have interest in a pair of Blue Jays relievers.
