Dodgers release Eric Gagne

The Dodgers released former Cy Young winner Eric Gagne from their spring training roster, according to MLB.com. Gagne said he would be willing to begin the season in Triple-A to work his way back to the majors, but the Dodgers action would suggest that Gagne may be done pitching in the major leagues.

In only 2.2 innings of work this spring, Gagne had posted a 20.25 ERA. He owns a career 3.47 ERA in 402 career appearances in ten professional seasons with the Dodgers, Rangers, Red Sox, and Brewers.

He could always return to play in his native Canada.

One AL executive believes the Twins and Indians, both in need of a late inning reliever, will not pursue Eric Gagne, even on a minor league deal.
