The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Ron Mahay on a minor league contract with an invitation to major league camp.
The Twins hope that Mahay, who posted 2.55 ERA in 2007, can return to form to help the back-end of the bullpen. This low-cost move would suggest the Twins aren't willing to surrender a top prospect for one of the Blue Jays relievers they have sought throughout spring training.
Mahay did post a 4.29 ERA in 57 games last season with the Royals and Twins, but he only appeared in 9 innings of work for the Twins.
He owns a career 3.86 ERA.
