Giants sign Brian Wilson to extension

The Giants and closer Brian Wilson have agreed to a two year extension worth 15 million dollars, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The deal will begin in 2011.

Wilson came on the scene in 2008 with the Giants when he posted 41 saves in 63 appearances. This past season, Wilson posted a 2.74 ERA and 38 saves, striking out 83.

This is a solid move for the team to lock him into a set salary, especially because his salary would have increased mightily if they went to arbitration with the closer.
