Athletics sign Brett Anderson to extension

The Athletics are getting this one out of the way early.

The A's and Brett Anderson have agreed to a four year extension worth 12.5 million dollars. The includes two options that would make the deal worth 31 million dollars. He will make 500,000 dollars this year, 1 million next year, 3 million in 2012 and 5.5 in 2013. His club option in 2014 is worth 8 million dollars and 12 million in 2015.

Anderson, 22, posted an 11-11 record with a 4.06 ERA in 175 1/3 innings, striking out 150 and walking 45.

If Anderson makes it to the end of his contract, he will only be 27 years old and presumably in line for another big deal (or a big trade if the Athletics stay in the lines of their system).

He is 1-0 in two starts this season.
