The Dodgers have expressed interest in Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt and Mariners pitcher Cliff Lee, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Dodgers are certainly in need of some starting pitching, especially after the team just designated Ramon Ortiz for assignment.
Pitcher John Ely is a new addition after coming over in a trade from the White Sox last year. Ely is 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA, fresh off a seven inning shut out performance in a no-decision against the Cubs today.
The Dodgers would have to dig into their farm system to land either pitcher, and it will be interesting to see who they choose. Cliff Lee seems like the obvious choice, considering he owns a 7-0 record in 9 games with a 2.27 ERA against NL West teams.
