SI.com has learned that the Nationals are making plans to hire Tim Chambers, who is the head coach at the College of Southern Nevada, the school the perennial number one pick Bryce Harper currently attends.
The news only perpetuates rumors that the team will draft Bryce Harper with the first overall pick, although assistant GM Roy Clark denies the claim saying the move is unrelated.
Chambers is well accomplished all across the baseball spectrum, not to mention winning six championships in nine years of college. Nationals people are not committing to drafting Harper, despite being the favorite in the draft.
Several baseball sources expect the Nationals to draft Bryce Harper, but if they don't, it is hard to see him making it past the number two slot. This kid is good.
