The Athletics, who are hitting .262 as a team, have sent minor league pitcher Sam Demel to the Diamondbacks for outfielder Conor Jackson. Jackson is hitting just .238 with 1 home run in 42 games this season, but is a .277 career hitter.
Jackson will fit in to the outfield rotation nicely in Oakland, but he has shown no signs of breaking out of his slump. Still, a change of scenery could be beneficial.
Demel, 24, has been outstanding in Triple-A, posting a 1.26 ERA and a 2-0 record. He could see time in the Arizona bullpen at some point this season.
