Free agent pitcher Mark Prior is set to throw for scouts Wednesday to show he is ready to continue his pitching career after a four-year hiatus from the sport. Prior is 42-29 in his career with a 3.51 ERA, but hasn't made 30 starts since 2003, in fact, he only made 57 starts since the 2003 season.
Major league scouts from nearly every team will be in attendance, so chances of him landing a minor league gig are good. I hope he can make it back to the major league level with some club, but history shows that odds are against him.
A second half upgrade from a perennial top of the rotation starter could benefit a lot of teams. We should all know more tomorrow.
