The Rays promoted outfielder Rocco Baldelli to Triple-A Durham after 12 games in Class-A, according to ESPN.com. Baldelli is recovering from a rare disease that limits his energy, completely ruling out any form of regular baseball activities.
"The first part of the games that I was playing went well," Baldelli said. "I'm just happy to be out there and getting a chance to go to Durham and get some more at-bats. I'm going to go up there and do my best, see what happens and go from there."
Baldelli hit .283 with four doubles and six RBIs in 12 games, and the 28-year old seems destined to join the Rays later on this season, perhaps as a September call up when rosters expand.
