Rays to sign outfielder Brad Hawpe

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Rays will sign outfielder Brad Hawpe. Hawpe, who was released by the Rockies last week, was deciding between the Rangers and Red Sox

Hawpe, a .280 career hitter, is hitting .255 with 7 home runs and a .343 on-base percentage, a full 30-points below his career line. However, Hawpe can hit for power and has shown that ability by putting up four consecutive 20 home run seasons prior to the current year.

He is a nice pick up for the Rays who do not need to spend big for an impact player.
