Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg to miss 2011?

The worst news.

The Nationals ace, future, and savior, Stephen Strasburg had an MRI that revealed a tear in his pitching elbow, meaning he'll need Tommy John surgery and miss the entire 2011 season.

Strasburg is 5-3 with a 2.91 ERA, 92 strike outs, and a 1.07 WHIP in 68 innings this season. He sure looked like the pitcher the Nats hoped he would become.

It is hard to put blame on anyone in the Nats' organization for this. I'm sure the coaching staff will share some of the blame, and it will be interesting to see if Nationals pitching coach Steve McCatty returns next season.
