Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla has done a good job in the rotation this season, according to manager Joe Torre. Padilla owns a modest 6-5 record through 16 starts with a 4.07 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.
Padilla was viewed as cancer in some clubhouses, but the Dodgers brought him in and he has been a good teammate and veteran for the club.
"I don't think there's anybody who doesn't like what he does. It's tough to find stuff like he has. When he gets out there he can still do it. He knows what he's doing. He has not been a [negative] issue baseball-wise. I like him."
Padilla is making roughly four million dollars this season, and will probably command nothing more than in 2011. The Dodgers should be able to retain him.
