SI.com is reporting that the Diamondbacks will name former Padres GM Kevin Towers as their next general manager. The deal is a two year deal with options for more years, according to the report.
Towers was the longest tenured GM before he was let go by the Padres after the 2009 season. During his 14 seasons with the club, they made the playoffs four times.
This is a really smart move for the Diamondbacks, who asked interim GM Jerry DiPoto to stay on with Towers' staff.
