ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the Brewers will almost certainly fire manager Ken Macha at the end of the season. Macha, who was signed before the 2009 season, has an option in his deal for the 2011 season that Olney says will not be picked up.
The Brewers were quite a disappointment this season both at the plate and on the mound. Both Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder had solid seasons, but posted new lows this season in key statistical categories. The team found a new closer in John Axford, but have been stuck with all-time saves leader, closer Trevor Hoffman, who posted a career high 6.02 this season.
The Brewers will interview bench coach Willie Randolph for the job, along with a handful of other managers also being interviewed around the league. This offseason is shaping up to be one for the managers, and not so much the players.
